#2 Distributor WESCO/Anixter Closes, And Other Rankings

WESCO International, Inc. completed its merger with Anixter International Inc., making Anixter a wholly-owned subsidiary of WESCO, and creating what is estimated by the companies to be a $17 billion per year combined enterprise behind only Sonepar North America as #1.

Complete details of the deal are easily found on line on either company website.  WCMA observes that the companies expected the deal to finalize during Q2 or Q3, so obviously this was finalized sooner versus later. Here are some interesting big picture facts:

Looking at the top five, #1 Sonepar is a privately held company which reported about 22 Billion Euros ($24.8 billion) through its operations including Codale, Cooper Electric, Crawford, Independent Electric, Irby, North Coast, North East Electrical, One Source, QED, Vallen, Viking Electric, World Electric

WESCO International (public), previously #2 adds Anixter International (Public) and remains #2.  Graybar (ESOP) reported about $7.2 Billion in 2018, and Rexel Holdings, USA and Canada (Public) reported $2.8 Billion.
