Champlain Cable Corp., headquartered in Colchester, Vermont, acquired Umbilicals International, with plants in Stafford and Channelview, Texas, from The Seanamic Group, of Scotland.
Champlain Cable manufactures irradiated, specialty wire and cable products for harsh and demanding environments. Bill Reichert, President/CEO of Champlain, said Umbilicals International will keep its name and continue to operate out of their facilities in Stafford and Channelview, Texas, headed by Colin Zak, General Manager. "The addition of Umbilicals International to the Champlain Cable Group will strengthen our commitment to custom designed cables for harsh and demanding environments and broaden our product offering," he said. Umbilicals International manufacturers cables for Diving, Defense, Seismic, Oil and Gas, ROV Umbilicals, Tow Cables, and Trencher cables applications.
Separately, Champlain announced it added Robert "Bob" Konnick as Vice President, Technology and Development. Most recently with Marmon Electrical Cable, overseeing its Innovation Center, Konnick, is a long standing member of cable specification committees such as IEEE. Throughout his long and successful career, Bob has had significant technical and development responsibility in many successful wire and cable companies.
